cANINE LYME DISEASE AND PREVENTION BY VACCINE: 

Steve Callister received his Ph.D. in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin and is currently a Medical Staff member in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Director of Microbiology Research and Molecular Diagnostics at the Gundersen Health System. His research interests include pathogenesis of tick-borne illnesses such as Lyme disease and Anaplasmosis, and he has authored or co-authored over 100 academic publications which deal primarily with tick-borne pathogens. In addition, he has served extensive terms on several Editorial Boards including the Journal of Clinical Microbiology and is past Chair of the Clinical and Diagnostic Immunology Division of the American Society for Microbiology.

Lyme Disease: Why You Should Be Talking About Prevention:

Lyme disease continues to be a common topic of conversation among veterinarians. In 2018, the ACVIM updated its Consensus Statement to provide the most up-to-date information on how best to diagnose, treat, and prevent Lyme disease. This presentation will not only review the basics of Lyme disease, but will also do a deep dive on the key points from the 2018 ACVIM Consensus Statement.

A Four-Part Webinar Series with guest speaker David F. McCormick, MS, CVA

David McCormick is a veterinary practice appraiser, broker and transaction specialist. Respected among veterinary colleagues as an expert in appraisals and brokerage, he helps current and future practice owners reach their goals. He teaches regionally, nationally and internationally on topics such as practice value & practice financial health, buying/selling a practice, exit planning and practice ownership issues. He operates Simmons Mid-Atlantic and Simmons Great Lakes with his partner and father, Larry McCormick, DVM, MBA, CBA.

This webinar series ran throughout October 2020, however recorded versions of each session are now available. 

What Makes a Practice Financially Healthy and Why it Matters

  • Unfortunately the average practice is not financially healthy. This session starts with defining what it means and why it is important for a practice to become financially healthy. From this foundation it will teach attendees how understand their financial statements and then how to do a self-assessment on their practice's financial health.
