MPHP00505A

HEMOSTEM™ is used for the control of bleeding, as capillary hemorrhaging , and serum exudating from damaged tissue wherever conventional methods of local hemostasis is difficult or impractical.

HEMOSTEM™ is made by degrading a suitable form of plant cell wall cellulose by chemical oxidation, and neutralization to the calcium salt, with depolymerization by irradiation. The resulting pale yellow-cream to buff colored powder is composed of microfibers of about 10 micron diameter and 100 micron in length. Containing by weight between 10 to 18% of carboxyl group and 4 to 8% calcium respectively with reference to dried substance. The suitable form of cellulose used is that prepared from the micronized fine seed coat fibers of the Cotton plant, Gossypium hirsutum, and other cultivated species of Gossypium.

Delicately woven hemostatic gauze for wrapping around anastimoses such as those of arterial and venous vessels and the digestive tract. PRESENTATION: Sterile single piece 2" x 2.75" in flat peel pouch
